Pen and paper
I wrote a letter yesterday and placed it in the mail. How sad is it that I can’t remember the last time I’ve ever done so? Sure I’ve written a little note and sent it along with a package. I’ve also written cute little notes for my love and my friends and left them to be found. I cannot, however, recall when was the last time I have written a letter to someone and even more so, mailed it. It’s at least been several years. I find it interesting that in today’s day and age one’s penmanship gets pushed to the wayside in favor of digital media. It is something I’m guilty of myself.
Now, I do know and understand that some of us have sloppy or poor handwriting. I can relate to typing being far more convenient both for the writer and the reader in that regard. However, is the art of writing dying off? Where I used to place paper to pen almost daily writing, I haven’t written in an unknown time. Sure, I’ve taken messages at work, etc., I’m not speaking of the quick little blurb. I’m speaking of actually composing something, like a letter. I know some schools use and even need an iPad . It’s almost as if writing and penmanship is becoming a lost art.
I do know digital is far more convenient. I know from a personal level. I had even opted to keep a digital journal as opposed to a written one when I began mine. It’s more far more portable and easy to have at hand. Be that as it may, I have since then decided to return to a written journal on my upcoming birthday. I feel more connected to my words and emotions when I write. For me it is far more meaningful to take the time as you stroke each word out, feeling each movement and the motion behind it. It is almost therapeutic.
