Middle of Nowhere and getting funked up.
Hello world. It’s another post from the life of the queen. I know, I know, you’re all excited. Or maybe I’m the excited one. Yeah, that’s it. I’m the one feeling good. How can I not? It really has been a great weekend. While today was a day of relaxation, last night was good times, great music and friends. To me that is the perfect formula to feeling fantastic.
The only unfortunate drawback is that it’s cause for the time to pass far too quickly. This particular feel good weekend came courtesy of going to another of Urban Rebel’s shows. Well, to be fair, it was a night of performances by several bands in SONYK XPLOSION held at Nowhere Lounge on South Beach, though I was there in support of my peeps, Urban Rebel. There was some great music last night, though to be honest, the venue left things to be desired. For one thing, the sound. You would think that a place that is hosting several bands performing would have made a better effort in the sound department. It wasn’t so much that the music was loud. Loud can be quite good, especially for a sick bass line. However the sound tech had it set up where it was just plain noisy.
The sound factor set aside, the venue was pretty and I did like the decor. The stage though was quite inadequate. At least where it concerns performers that are high energy. From the moment I came near the stage, all I kept thinking was “How in the hell is UR going to fit on this stage?” Not only do they have quite a setup, their energy is far too high to be contained on a small stage. That being said, they worked it nonetheless and as always rocked the house. Even the guy filming the event mentioned to me that he spent more time on them then he usually does with bands on account of their energy and stage presence.
As for me I loved the set, yet enjoyed the time afterwards better. We went out with the guys for a hookah and grub session on Lincoln Road and it was great just to be able to unwind. I even nabbed on ordering the biggest pomegranate martini I have ever seen. But I digress, these guys are phenomenal people, both on stage and off. They are definitely destined for stardom. Being the mushball that I am I will say this, I’m thankful to have met them and that I get to call them friends. Much love.
