Let this year be
It’s New Year’s Day — the perfect time to reflect on the past and also set goals for the year ahead.
I remember all throughout 2020, the common opinion was how terrible it was. With the pandemic striking us all and forcing us to rethink a lot of things, I will admit there was definitely a lesson to be learned in that year and quite a few obstacles to overcome. Some would say that 2021 was no better. Some have said it was even worse. I know for me I would say that 2021 was definitely life-altering and in so many ways. No, I didn’t win the lottery or anything like that. For me, it was more meaningful and impactful than that.
2021 for me was a year that showed me who I was on a deeper level. It showed me how much I can and have grown, how much I can overcome, and showed me just how wide the doors are open for me. 2021 was a rebirth of sorts for me. I’ve lost people who I held dear. I’ve had personal setbacks and experienced things I would have never imagined myself going through. Yes, it was a rougher year than most for me however, I am so incredibly thankful.
2021 reminded me of so much. I am resilient, I am passionate about my life, and more importantly, I don’t quit. It’s an entirely different level of self-awareness and respect for myself. Even when the odds are stacked against me, even when circumstances are less than ideal, I will always rise. What drives me is myself.
You see, some might equate success as a financial number, that is not me. Money is a number, it goes up, it goes down. When it all boils down to it you can have all the money in the world and still feel empty. For me, it’s deeper than that. For me, success is on a soul level. So long as I can eat, have a solid roof over my head, and love surrounding me, I am blessed.
So yes, now with 2021 in the books, I move forward and onward with new insight and clearer vision. Let this year be the year you seek progress rather than perfection and enjoy every victory you win along the way to your goals. May the year ahead take you on an exciting new adventure, complete with life-changing experiences and deeper friendships. Cheers, to further mutual successes in the new year! Let your dreams fly into the new year!
I hope this inspires you too. In the words of author Neil Gaiman, “I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You’re doing things you’ve never done before, and more importantly, you’re doing something.”
So remember, celebrate yourself and have a glorious and happy 2022!
