I haven’t even thought of this site in quite some time. It truthfully has been over a year. But this post, I think it is one that deserves to be written. One that comes from the bottom of my heart and soul.

The holidays have become bittersweet in a sense for me. The bitter being that in the last several years I have faced losses in different aspects of my life. A father, an aunt, friends and beloved pets. It saddens me to think that our time for making memories and sharing our lives has come to and end. The sweet is the filling of these blank spaces with new and lovely moments that have and will become part of my life’s journey. And while some parts of this heart have frozen in time, it still beats with passion and dreams, goals and inspirations. I am thankful. Every day. Not for the material things, that has never been a measure of happiness for me. I am thankful for the love in my life. My family, my friends. I am thankful for this life even full of its imperfections.

Christmas of 2003, that’s when it began. What is now seeming like only yesterday began his eternity with me. Today I laid to rest my little prince. My ride or die and a constant in my life for the last 14 years. In a way you could say he’s been the only constant. Through thick and thin he’s stood by me loyally and unconditionally asking nothing of me in return except for my love.

It’s an odd time for human nature as of late. We have become a culture of disconnected beings. Yes we have the gift of the internet as well as smart phones which are both amazing pieces of technology. However, what we are lacking is a connection to our own individual selves and to our emotions as well as to others. I know I’ve touched on it before but it’s saddening to think of just how rampant it is. I see it grow more and more everyday and it frightens me to think just how far it will reach. A thought
Coming up on the big 4-0 in a couple of days. It’s a milestone or so some would say. I personally don’t think of it that way. While it is another year around the sun, I think that one should try to make every day one of importance. After all, life can and sometimes does change in an instant. From friends to family and even your role models, they can be here one day and be gone in the next. While obviously death can be a factor which sometimes catches us off guard (we’ve all witnessed the mass shootings as well as the great migration of artist and entertainers that so far has taken place in 2016), life changes aren’t only limited to death. People change, grow, evolve. Sometimes it’s as simple as the sympathetic vibrations changing and no longer lining up with another.

Is life perfect? Not by a long shot. We all have our hopes and aspirations. We have both dreams and disappointments. We love and we loathe. There’s likes and dislikes, drama and joys. Life is what it is and it is all encompassing. It’s what makes the lows sting and the highs, exhilarating. Where am I going with this? I’ll tell you. Life is about the moments. While some are sweet and some are not, it’s important to hold on to your experiences regardless of how minute they may seem. After all, when it’s all said and done, it’s not the money nor the popularity, it is the moments that make us.

What to do when four walls make you restless and you feel pulled in all directions? Well, one of the things I love to do when I’m feeling that way and I need a little breathing room is to head to the beach. Then again, being a Cancerian, water calls to me constantly. No matter how I’m feeling, just being near a body of it instantly soothes me. It’s tranquility at its base. So when Saturday night rolled around and I heard her call, I instantly knew I needed to go to the beach. Sunday’s game plan was set.

Where do I begin? For starters let’s say that this post has been on my mind for a couple of days now, yet the pesky thing called time continues to be elusive. Between responsibility and duty, there hasn’t been much time as of late. Still, I persist and here I am with this entry. I suppose you could say my present state is a major contributor on its subject matter. So to get on with it.

Hello readers. It’s the Queen here bringing to you another post to think about. Or not. It’s entirely up to you.
I was spending a bit of quality time with a friend of mine yesterday and we were discussing my earlier post here about society on a whole losing it’s ability to communicate real feelings. Yes, this friend actually took the time to not only read my post, but to engage me in conversation and exchange thoughts and points of view with me. It was and still is greatly appreciated. Out of the all the likes received on the previous post, according to the stats here on my site, not many people actually read it, and out of all the likes and views, only two actually gave their lovely two cents.
